Splunk Cloud comes to Google Cloud - InfoWorld Posted: 05 May 2020 09:12 AM PDT ![]() Splunk Cloud, the cloud-based implementation of Splunk's logging and analysis services, will soon be made available on Google Cloud. A joint announcement from Splunk and Google indicates that Splunk Cloud will be natively integrated with key components of Google Cloud's mananagement toolset: Splunk Cloud will support data collection from native cloud, hybrid, and multicloud environments. The data Splunk Cloud will collect includes conventional generated events, logs, and performance metrics, but also billing data. Also planned is Google Cloud integration with Splunk Phantom, Splunk's security orchestration and automation system. Google Vault, G Suite, G Suite for Gmail, Safe Browsing and Big Query are all intended to work with Splunk Phantom in time. Despite the presence of many open source alternatives, Splunk remains a popular choice for log analysis. The company has been beefing up the data analysis features of its platform with genuine machine learning features. Right now Splunk Cloud is available on Google Cloud only to a limited subset of beta-test customers. No specific date has been offered for general availability yet. And while Splunk Cloud generally does not offer a free tier, a 15-day free trial version allows you to kick the tires on other cloud environments like AWS. |
Posted: 06 May 2020 02:48 PM PDT ![]() A former Hewlett Packard Enterprise product manager has joined Google Cloud's channel partner effort. Ian Glasner, who most recently worked as a senior product manager of sales experience at HPE, started a new role as senior product launch manager for Google Cloud's Partner Advantage program team this week, according to his LinkedIn page. "I'm excited to continue enabling partners and customers in their IT transformations," Glasner said in a LinkedIn post. Glasner listed his Google Cloud duties as including driving the launch of new product/mergers and acquisitions, pricing and sales promotions to the partner ecosystem; developing, executing and managing a comprehensive partner enablement and activation plan to support ongoing program execution; and leveraging data from partners and sales feedback to improve and maintain the enablement resources shared in the Partner Advantage portal. Google Cloud did not respond to a CRN inquiry by deadline, and Glasner could not be reached. Glasner worked for HPE for just more than four years, according to his LinkedIn profile, which says his prior roles were as chief of staff, worldwide sales excellence, to the chief operating officer of a $7.6 billion HPE services business, and strategic alliance manager of incubator partner programs. "I wouldn't trade my time at HPE for anything," Glasner's post said. "I was given the opportunity to have so many different experiences, including roles in product management, sales, services, strategy and operations, and strategic alliances. But, even more importantly, I had the opportunity to work with so many smart and inspiring people." |
